The second edition of the ACMA Automechanika New Delhi automotive aftermarket trade fair concluded its four-day run on March 1, 2015.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from auto component majors, the aftermarket and business visitors on the whole, its organisers ACMA and Messe Frankfurt said in a press note.

The exhibition had 436 participating companies from India and foreign contingents from Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, the UAE, the UK and the USA.

Key industry players said they welcomed the Union Budget 2015-16 focus on infrastructure development including roads and power, education, skilling, infrastructure development, ease of doing business and attracting investments. The Budget, the first full-fledged one by the Narendra Modi government, was presented on 28February, the penultimate day of the fair.

The exhibits on the showfloor were a representation of the latest products in mobility, vehicle maintenance and upkeep. In terms of numbers, 12,861 business visitors from India and abroad visited the show, creating new records as compared to the last edition of the show in 2013, the organisers said.

Among the main companies attending were Bosch, Tenneco, Shriram Pistons & Rings, the Anand Group, ZF India and host of others.

At the event, ACMA’s ‘Asli Naqli’ pavilion and Messe Frankfurt’s ‘Against Copying’ campaign were not only aimed at educating aftermarket professionals about the disadvantages and risks involved in using fake parts for vehicles but also allowed visitors to evaluate components and distinguish real from fake, enabling them to take well-informed procurement decisions.

Among the key highlights of the event was a white paper on Transformative Technologies of Future Cars presented by Frost & Sullivan on day 2 during the concurrently held ACMA Automechanika seminar. The seminar presented insights on the next generation of electronics and safety systems and managing cost of innovation from a panel of 18 speakers from India, Germany, the UK and the USA.

Additionally, the first ACMA Global MSME Summit: ‘Make in India – Evolving Manufacturing through Globalisation’  focused on Indian small and medium enterprises and the evolution of global MSMEs in terms of entrepreneurial ability, technology upgradation and innovation. The session also provided an opportunity to understand business openings in adjacent industries like off-highway vehicles, urban transport system, defence (indigenisation) and agricultural machinery.
