Honda Cars India Ltd. reported total sales of 8,096 units in September 2025, reflecting a 25.8 percent year-on-year decline from 10,914 units in September 2024. However, the company posted a 19.5 percent month-on-month growth from August 2025's 6,774 units, indicating recovery as the festive season approaches.
September sales comprised 5,303 domestic units and 2,793 export units. Compared to September 2024's 5,675 domestic and 5,239 export units, this represents a 6.6 percent domestic decline and 46.7 percent export drop year-on-year.
Festive Season Boost
Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, noted the positive shift during late September. "We witnessed a strong pick-up in both wholesales and deliveries from Navratras onwards, as customers aligned their purchases following the GST related announcements," Behl stated.
He credited GST 2.0 for making cars "much more affordable with reduced prices and additional ongoing offers," and expressed confidence that "this strong momentum will carry forward into October with heightened customer sentiment during Dhanteras and Diwali."
Growth Trajectory
Honda's sequential performance shows stabilization, with sales improving from July's 7,524 units through August's 6,774 units to September's 8,096 units. The nearly 20 percent month-on-month improvement suggests the company's festive strategies and GST reforms are driving retail activity.
The automaker, established in 1995 with manufacturing operations in Tapukara, Rajasthan, is banking on traditional festive season demand to sustain the growth momentum into October, when Dhanteras and Diwali celebrations typically boost vehicle purchases across India.
