ZF introduces AI-powered fleet management platform in India
ZF introduces SCALAR, an AI-driven fleet management system in India, designed to help optimize operations, cut costs, and boost efficiency for commercial vehicle fleets.
Global automotive supplier ZF has launched SCALAR, a digital fleet management platform, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The system aims to optimize operations for commercial vehicle fleets in India through artificial intelligence and predictive analytics.
The platform provides fleet operators with real-time data analysis and route optimization for both cargo and passenger vehicles, incorporating both conventional and electric vehicles. It analyzes historical data to improve fleet planning and dispatching while monitoring vehicle performance and maintenance needs.
"SCALAR is the industry's first comprehensive fleet orchestration solution tailored to Indian requirements," said P Kaniappan, Managing Director of ZF Commercial Vehicles Control Systems India Ltd. The platform focuses on reducing operational costs through fuel-efficient routing and predictive maintenance capabilities.
Van Raemdonck Hjalmar, Head of Digital Solutions Business at ZF's CVS Division, emphasized the platform's ability to adapt to emerging trends in transportation. The system includes features for tracking driver behavior and avoiding unplanned vehicle downtime.
ZF, headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, has been expanding its digital solutions portfolio globally. The company has operated in India for over five decades, providing technology solutions for the automotive sector. This launch comes as India's commercial vehicle industry increasingly adopts digital solutions to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
The introduction of SCALAR follows a broader industry trend toward digitalization in fleet management, as operators seek to optimize resources and meet sustainability goals. The commercial vehicle telematics market in India has been growing, driven by demands for improved operational efficiency and regulatory requirements for vehicle tracking systems.
