NueGo Launches Electric Bus Service Between Delhi and Lucknow

NueGo, India's first electric intercity bus brand operated by GreenCell Mobility, has launched a new route connecting Delhi and Lucknow with fares starting at INR 999. The service covers the distance in approximately 10 hours using all-electric buses, marking what the company describes as its longest electric intercity route to date.

The Delhi-Lucknow service forms part of NueGo's expanding network, which currently operates over 300 electric buses across more than 100 cities in India, providing over 500 daily departures. Each bus can travel more than 250 kilometers on a single charge while maintaining air conditioning in traffic conditions.

NueGo's electric buses undergo 25 safety inspections before each journey, including mechanical and electrical checks. The vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions and feature real-time GPS tracking accessible through the company's mobile application. Speed limits are capped at 80 kilometers per hour for safety purposes.

The buses include several safety features, particularly for women passengers, such as a 24-hour helpline, designated "Pink Seats" available during booking, and CCTV surveillance systems. All drivers must complete breath analyzer tests, and the vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking systems.

GreenCell Mobility CEO and MD Devndra Chawla stated that the expansion represents the company's efforts to provide sustainable intercity travel options while reducing India's carbon footprint. The service includes trained staff, premium seating, and access to airport-style lounges in select cities.

The route launch follows NueGo's completion of its Kashmir to Kanyakumari expedition, which tested electric bus performance across different terrains throughout India. The company positions itself as a premium electric bus service focused on safety, punctuality, and passenger comfort in the growing sustainable transportation sector.

NueGo was established as part of GreenCell Mobility's initiative to introduce electric vehicle technology to India's intercity bus market, competing with traditional diesel-powered bus services and other transportation options between major cities.
