Indofast Energy, Nexus Select Malls Launch Battery Swapping Stations

India's retail landscape is witnessing a new integration of sustainable mobility infrastructure as battery swapping stations make their debut inside shopping malls.

Indofast Energy, a battery-swapping solutions provider, has partnered with Nexus Select Trust to launch Quick Interchange Stations at two Bengaluru locations: Nexus Shantiniketan and Nexus Whitefield. This marks the first time such infrastructure has been introduced at Nexus Select Malls properties.

The collaboration aims to provide electric vehicle users with faster energy solutions by placing battery swapping facilities in high-traffic retail destinations. The service targets commuters, gig workers, delivery partners, and fleet operators who rely on electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in urban areas.

According to Anant Badjatya, CEO of Indofast Energy, the partnership represents a shift in how urban infrastructure can support electric vehicle adoption. The automated battery swapping technology allows users to replace depleted batteries within minutes, addressing charging time and range concerns.

Nilesh Singh, Senior Vice President of ESG and Business Excellence at Nexus Select Mall, described the initiative as part of the company's effort to position malls as future-ready urban ecosystems while supporting cleaner last-mile mobility.

The companies plan to scale the infrastructure across additional cities including Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Pune. Indofast Energy has stated an ambition to deploy 10,000 battery swapping stations across more than 40 Indian cities over the next three years.

Indofast Energy is a joint venture between IndianOil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility. The company currently operates over 1,200 swap stations across 22 cities, handling more than 2.4 million battery swaps per month.

Nexus Select Trust is India's first listed Retail REIT and operates a portfolio of shopping malls across key urban centers in the country.
