Atlas Copco Introduces Cordless XB Assembly Tools Aimed at Smart Manufacturing Sector

Atlas Copco has announced the launch of the XB range, a new line of cordless nut runners intended to support smart manufacturing operations. The product line, unveiled at the company's Pune facility, includes two all-electric tools suited for different assembly scenarios.

The XCB is a mechanical clutch tool built for standard assembly applications, while the XTB is a torque transducer model designed for quality-critical environments. Both tools are positioned as entry points for manufacturers beginning to adopt integrated assembly practices.

According to the company, the tools are designed for immediate deployment — operators insert the battery, configure torque settings via an onboard Human Machine Interface (HMI), and begin work without additional configuration. The HMI provides real-time OK/NOK feedback to support tightening accuracy.

The XCB model includes re-hit detection and is engineered to minimize reaction force for repetitive joint tightening. The XTB supports multiple tightening programs with torque control and angle monitoring, making it applicable to assemblies with varying joint stiffness and torque requirements.

Chandrashekhar Pathak, General Manager of Industrial Technique at Atlas Copco (India) Pvt. Ltd., stated that the XB tools reflect the company's focus on combining precision engineering with digital capabilities. He noted the tools are intended to help manufacturers improve quality and productivity while supporting a transition toward more sustainable operations.

The XB range features an ergonomic handle, lightweight construction, and a balanced form factor. The cordless design allows operators to work across multiple workstations and access confined spaces without the restrictions of tethered equipment.

Atlas Copco (India) Pvt. Ltd. has operated in India since 1960, with its registered office in Pune. The company reported revenues of approximately INR 5,790 crore for the fiscal year ending March 2025 and employs more than 3,800 people across its India operations.
