Ather Energy Begins Rollout of Pothole+ Alerts to Scooter Fleet
Electric two-wheeler maker uses fleet-generated road intelligence data to deliver real-time hazard notifications across Gen 2 and newer models.
Ather Energy has initiated the rollout of Pothole+ Alerts for its Gen 2 and newer electric scooter models, including the Ather 450 Apex, 450X, and Rizta Z. The software feature uses road intelligence compiled from connected vehicle data to warn riders of upcoming road hazards during active navigation.
How Ather's Pothole+ Alerts Work
The system detects and notifies users about potholes, broken road patches, uneven surfaces, and speed breakers ahead. Visual warnings are displayed on the vehicle’s dashboard, while audio alerts can be played through the scooter, the Ather Halo smart helmet, or paired Bluetooth headsets to allow riders to maintain visual attention on the road.
Why Ather Took Time to Launch It
The feature relies on onboard computing hardware and connectivity integrated into Ather scooters, enabling the company to process aggregate fleet data over time. Ather CEO Tarun Mehta said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the feature would be going live after being revealed during Ather's 2025 Community Day event, and developing the hazard-alert capability required building out a sufficient dataset from the company's active connected fleet.
