The first batch of production-ready Tata Nexons have rolled out of Tata Motors’ Ranjangaon plant. The Nexon is the company’s fourth product – after the Tiago, Tigor and Hexa – in the new generation of passenger vehicles under the ‘Impact’ design philosophy.

Slated for launch during the festive season this year, Tata Motors says it will soon be despatching the new compact SUV to dealerships across the country in a phased manner.

The company has billed the Nexon as “a sporty SUV with contemporary styling engineered to deliver excellence with dynamic handling , sporty performance, smart connectivity and comfort along with advanced safety features.”

The Nexon, Tata’s answer to the Ford EcoSport and the Maruti Vitara Brezza, is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Revotron series and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Revotorq family, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The Nexon is expected to give Tata Motors new charge in the booming SUV market in the country. Watch this space.
