Nexteer Automotive inaugurates new plant in Chennai
Nexteer's strategic footprint expansion to provide high quality products like Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and driveline products to India, as well as fast, responsive customer service.
Nexteer Automotive today inaugurated a new production facility in Chennai. With this, Chennai takes its place as Nexteer’s third manufacturing plant in India – joining plants in Bangalore and Pune – and as the 26th plant within the company’s global manufacturing footprint. The company anticipates that the new plant will provide 150 job opportunities in Chennai by the end of 2019.
“The Chennai plant is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nexteer Automotive, covering an area of 8,336 square metres,” said Madhav Kulkarni, managing director, Nexteer India. “This strategic manufacturing footprint expansion will bring Nexteer’s high quality and safety-critical Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and Driveline products to India, as well as fast, responsive service to better serve our customers.”
“Nexteer’s EPS systems enhance driver comfort, control and feel-of-the-road, while also enabling ADAS features, such as lane keeping, park assist, lane departure warning, traffic jam assist and more. EPS systems also offer automakers increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. At the same time, they help give your vehicle personality and performance,” said Tao Liu, senior vice-president and global chief operating officer, Nexteer Automotive. “The opening of Nexteer’s facility in Chennai and our expanded production capacity in India are important pieces in our global strategy and represent our confidence in the growth potential of the automotive market within this region.”
