Maruti Suzuki powers July sales with 22% YoY growth

Five days ahead of the launch of the all-nw S-Cross, the country’s largest carmaker has revealed that it has sold a total of 110,405 cars in July 2015 in the domestic market, which is a handsome 22.5% year on year growth (July 2014: 90,093).

Maruti Suzuki powers July sales with 22% YoY growth

There’s no stopping the Maruti Suzuki juggernaut. Five days ahead of the launch of the all-nw S-Cross, the country’s largest carmaker has revealed that it has sold a total of 110,405 cars in July 2015 in the domestic market, which is a handsome 22.5% year on year growth (July 2014: 90,093).

The company has notched positive growth across all its vehicle categories last month.

The entry level combine of the Alto and Wagon R sold 37,752 units, up 31.3% (July 2014: 28,759) while the quartet of the Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dire sold 48,381 units, up 13.9% (July 2014: 42,491). The Dzire Tour taxi sold 3,370 units last month. The Ciaz premium sedan sold 2,099 units but the car’s sales seem to be slowing down over the past few months.

The Ertiga MPV continues to do well, selling the bulk of the 6,916 units in July (clubbed with advance shipments of the S-Cross to Maruti dealers). Meanwhile, the Omni and Eeco chugged along with sales of 11,887 units, up 1.8% (July 2014: 11,680).

Honda Cars India posted 18% growth in domestic sales in July 2015, selling 18,606 units (July 2014: 15,709). The product-wise split comprises 5,180 Citys, 4,589 Amaze sedans, 6,676 units of the new Jazz, 1,122 Brios, 909Mobilios and 130 CR-Vs. Cumulative sales for April-July 2015 are 63,053 units, up 12% (April-July 2014: 56,427).

Speaking on the company’s performance,  Jnaneswar Sen, senior VP (Marketing & Sales), Honda Cars India, said, “We are extremely delighted to receive a great consumer response for all new Jazz. We would like to thank our customers for the continuous support to all our models.”

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 12,070 units in July 2015 compared to 11,921 units in July 2014, registering 1% growth in the domestic market. Etios sales grew by 60% with 2,827 units sold last month when compared to 1,769 units in July 2014. The Etios series sold 31,301 units in the January–July 2015, up 16% year on year

Volkswagen India’s sales were up 18% in July 2015. The German carmaker sold  4,029 units compared to 3,409 units sold in July 2014. Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India, said, “With the advent of the third quarter, and the encouraging customer response for the recently launched New Vento, we are happy to announce that our sales have gone up by 18% in July 2015, on a year-on-year basis. Also, with a slew of exciting made-for-India products lined for the next two years and backed by an impressive sales performance for the sixth consecutive month, we are confident of further strengthening our position in the Indian market over the coming months.”
