Asian Honda Motor Co today announced that automobile exports of Honda from Thailand in the first half of 2015 have reached a total value of 40.8 billion baht, an increase of 27 percent from the same period last year.

The growth is largely attributed to an increasing demand of the City model in Asia and Oceania as well as the recent launch of HR-V, Honda’s all-new sport crossover vehicle.

Honda’s automobile CBU exports from January to June 2015 increased by 78 percent to 19 billion baht in value as compared with the same period last year. This robust growth was driven by the strong demand for Honda models in Australia and Middle East. The City, HR-V, and Jazz were the top export models, accounting for around 70 percent of the total export units. As for the export market, the six-month results reflect the remarkable success in Australia with the models such as HR-V, Jazz, and CR-V, in the Philippines with Jazz and Mobilio, and in the Middle East with the City.

Total automobile CKD exports rose 3 percent to 19.7 billion baht in value from the demand of Honda automobile plants in Indonesia, Malaysia and South America for assembly of their domestic models.
Honda also exports supporting products such as automobile spare parts, accessories parts, and jigs and moulds for automobile production lines. Exports of automobile spare parts and accessories parts increased by 25 percent to 1.6 billion baht in value, thanks mainly to the increasing demand in Indonesia, India, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

Honda started automobile exports from Thailand in 1997 and Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co is the largest Honda automobile plant in Asia and Oceania region with a total capacity of 300,000 units per year.

The plant produces 11 Honda models including the Brio, Brio Amaze, Jazz, City, City CNG, Civic, Accord, Accord Hybrid, Mobilio, HR-V, and CR-V as well as CKD and parts components for export to over 70 countries in Asia and Oceania, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.
