This year too, experts in the field of automotive safety representing the OEM and component supplier industries, government agencies and global organisations that promote safety will come together for the fourth Autocar Professional international webinar on automotive and road safety.

The webinar will be hosted on Tuesday, 8th May, from 3:00 to 5:00pm (India Time). The theme of the webinar this year is 'Towards Safer Mobility in India'.

FADA Awards 2018 - recognising and rewarding excellence in automotive retail

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (F A D A) - the apex body for automobile dealers in India and Autocar Professional – India’s largest automotive B2B media, have joined hands to create a platform that recognises and rewards the excellence in automobile retail.

F A D A Awards is aimed at picking the best-in-class dealerships and their practices. A carefully thought through process will ensure that the nomination, scrutiny and evaluation journey is transparent and unbiased. These awards is the only platform for celebrating automobile retail in India.

The awards are divided in 4 categories encompassing the entire spectrum of automobile industry: 2-Wheelers, 3-Wheelers, 4-Wheelers and Commercial Vehicles. An able panel of jury will make the nominees go through a carefully drafted and rigorous judging process. The process is also designed to highlight various special initiatives undertaken by the dealerships in order to stay ahead of the curve. The awards will be hosted on the February 9, 2018 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.

The 14th Auto Expo 2018-Components organised jointly by Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is scheduled to take place from 8th -11th February 2018 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

With the focused theme 'Automotive Technologies that Driver the World', Auto Expo 2018 - Components will have a special emphasis on technological innovation and focus on technologies driving product innovation , efficient manufacturing and logistics.

As always, Auto Expo 2018 - Components will continue to provide the platform for joint ventures, generating inquiries, one to one interaction, brand promotion, industry surveys, promoting exports among others.

The event will be spread out across 60,000 square metres, with exclusive display of components. With participation of more than 1200 exhibitors from more than 20 countries will set-the-tone for the component manufacturing industry.

SIAM has announced the dates for the 2018 Auto Expo. The largest show of its kind in India will take place from February 9 to 14, 2018 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida.

The motor show will be spread across 1,85,000 square metres and will continue for a total of six days, one day more than previous iterations. Besides the usual plethora of vehicles showcased, this year’s motor show will also feature special zones for visitors such as Innovation Zone, Destination Zone, Smart Mobility Zone and Competition Zone.

The components show, which has been themed as ‘Automotive Technologies that Drive the World’, will have over 1,200 companies from all over the world exhibiting their products across 60,000 square metres of space.

Tickets for the 2018 Auto Expo will be available on Bookmyshow.com, the box office at IEML, Greater Noida and at select Metro Stations in Delhi NCR.

Highlighting the salient features of Auto Expo – The Motor Show, Mr. Vishnu Mathur, Director General, SIAM, said “The Auto Expo has conventionally been one of the most pursued platforms for the automobile industry in India and with the continued success of the show, it has gained a global thrust giving the participating brands a worldwide exposure. On January 18 – Autocar Professional will host the second edition of its annual Two-Wheeler Conclave at the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi. The conclave, on the overall theme of ‘Sustainable Growth in a New Era’, covers three key sessions – ‘Opportunities and Challenges on the Horizon’, ‘Riding the Electric Mobility Wave’ and ‘Emerging Market Trends and Predicting the Future’. These three sessions of the Two-Wheeler Conclave cover almost every aspect of the two-wheeler industry.

The Conclave, a good knowledge and networking forum, started off in 2016. With representation from the government, professionals representing OEMs, component manufacturers, research agencies and industry bodies, the second edition of the conclave promises to be a highly interesting event. There will be a galaxy of top-notch speakers, each an expert in the field, discussing and debating key two-wheeler industry issues, present and future challenges as well as the many opportunities that are coming up.

The automotive industry is witnessing a very dynamic period, which can be broadly segregated into changes that are driven by the new regulatory requirements and the fast-evolving customer preferences. These would include BS VI emission norms, new ABS / CBS safety mandates and the maturing local market.

Electric mobility, where two-wheelers are taking the lead, is a major emerging trend. The Indian EV market is at an inflection point now. OEMs and suppliers who get prepared now are the ones who will reap the benefits later. It's here that the government is going to play a key role. Given the sheer scale of the Indian two-wheeler market (FY2017: 17.5 million units), electrifying two-wheelers would have a big impact on cleaning the environment.

Simultaneously, the marketplace is also entering a new era. Young customers, some with tastes that are very radical, are entering the riding age. They speak a totally different language in terms of technology, design or even mobility. The once motorcycle-dominated industry continues to get scooterised as families and youngsters opt for easy-to-ride scooters, some trendy, and some with multi-utility features and low maintenance costs. And in the motorcycle segment, a new breed of midsize motorcycles is gaining ground. Could there be a big change in the contours of the two-wheeler market? Also, conventional retail channels are undergoing changes, while some alternate channels are taking shape in a digital world.
