Volkswagen Group India partners with Indo-German Urban Mela in New Delhi
October 30, 2012: As a ‘City Partner’ to the Indo-German Urban Mela (IGUM) being held in New Delhi, Volkswagen Group India is providing shuttle services for delegates participating in the event.
Over nine days, visitors get an opportunity to check out 16 spectacular pavilions, each of which will feature a dynamic selection of interactive presentations, conferences and cultural performances hosted by German corporations and organisations.
In the Volkswagen Group India Exhibition Pavilion two major concepts -- MicroCity and NILS -- based on the theme of Innovation, Sustainability and Responsibility are showcased.
Under Innovation, the displayed content will be on future mobility, emission-free mobility, hybrid and electric mobility and alternative fuels. The sustainability theme will cover topics like 'Think Blue. Factory', eco-compatible technologies, recycling concepts, forms of energy and renewable sources of energy. The theme of Responsibility will include various steps taken by the Volkswagen Group to ensure individual and sustainable mobility.
MicroCity, a concept of intelligent traffic systems, is the mobility centre which makes using passenger vehicles in cities easier and more appealing for customers. The MicroCity offers car and trip sharing included with intelligent parking management, charging of electric cars, short term rent of cars and electric two wheelers along with other future mobility solutions.
The design model of NILS (pictured) is a single-seat electric concept vehicle that offers a glimpse of a new form of minimalist mobility. The NILS project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development, and is designed to be both technically realistic and economically feasible. The Pavilion also showcases vehicle production within a closed energetic circle by reusing all resources and the CSR projects undertaken by the Volkswagen Group across the globe.
