Jaguar has now launched the new Jaguar F-Type SVR in India, in both Coupe and Convertible form, priced at Rs 2.65 crore and Rs 2.80 crore (both prices, ex-showroom, India), respectively.

While prices for the F-Type SVR twins were revealed last year, Jaguar has now opened sales for the MY2018 car, which gets minor updates in the form of new daytime running LED lights with integrated indicators, a new bumper and revised tail-lights.

The F-Type SVR variant is a standard V8 F-Type R that has been sharpened up by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. Its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 motor has now been tuned to make 575hp and 700Nm of peak torque, a rise of 25hp and 20Nm over the F-Type R.

All that power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Coupe, weighing in at 1,705kg, can do 0-100kph in a claimed 3.7sec and top out at 322kph. The Convertible, being marginally heavier, has an identical 0-100kph time, but a slightly lower top speed of 314kph.

Additionally, the F-Type SVR comes with a lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust (which saves 16kg and makes the F-Type SVR sound better), 20-inch forged alloys, a carbon-fibre rear wing and lightweight performance seats upholstered in quilted leather. It also gets lighter rear suspension knuckles and optional carbon-ceramic brakes, saving up to 21kg over the standard setup.

In India, the Jaguar F-Type SVR Coupe has rivals in the form of the Porsche 911 Turbo S, Mercedes-AMG GT R and the Nissan GT-R, while the Convertible faces off against the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.
