TVS Motor reports Q3 FY2019 revenue of Rs 4,665 crore, up 26%

The company reported its EBITDA for the third quarter of FY19 at Rs 375.7 crore. Exported 950,000 units and scooter sales grew by 31.7 percent.

TVS Motor reports Q3 FY2019 revenue of Rs 4,665 crore, up 26%

In contrast to a dull festive season in 2018 for the automotive industry, TVS Motor Company reported a revenue growth of 26 percent for the third quarter of FY 2018-19.  Total revenue grew to Rs 4,664.6 crore in the third quarter of 2018-19 from Rs 3,703.1 crore in the same quarter of December 2017. EBITDA for the quarter ended in December 2018 is Rs 375.7 crore compared to Rs 300.5 crore for the quarter ended December 2017, a growth of 25 percent. EBITDA for the quarter is at 8.1 percent.

Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q3 FY2018-19 is Rs 178.4 crore against Rs 154.4 crore reported for the same quarter in December 2017, registering a growth of 15.5 percent.

Motorcycles sales up 20.3%, scooter 31.7%
During the quarter ended December 2018, the overall two-wheeler sales of the TVS Motor including exports grew by 18.9 percent to 950,000 units from 799,000 units in the quarter ended December 2017.  Motorcycle sales grew by 20.3 percent to 378,000 units in the quarter ended December 2018 from 314,000 units registered in the quarter ended December 2017. Scooter sales of the company grew by 31.7 percent to 354,000 units in the quarter ended December 2018 from 269,000 units in the quarter ended December 2017. 

The total export of the company grew by 25.8 percent to 177,000 units during the quarter ended December 2018 from 140,000 units in the quarter ended December 2017. Total three-wheelers sales grew by 47 percent to  40,000 units in the quarter ended December 2018 from 27,000 units in the quarter ended December 2017.

Cumulative nine months results
Profit After Tax (PAT) for the nine months ended December 2018 is Rs 536.3 crore as against Rs 497 crore registered in the nine months ended December 2017. 

The total two-wheeler sales of TVS Motor for the nine months ended December 2018 grew by 15.3 percent to 28.92 lakh units as against 25.08 lakh units recorded in the period ended December 2017. Motorcycle sales grew by 17.4 percent to 11.84  lakh units in the period ended December 2018 from 10.09 lakh units registered in the period ended December 2017. Scooter sales grew by 20.5 percent in the nine months ended December 2018 to 10.30 lakh units as against 855,000 units registered in the nine months ended December 2017.  The total exports of TVS Motor increased to 550,000 units in the nine months ended December 2018 as against 413,000 units in the nine months ended December 2017 registering a growth of 33 percent.

Total three-wheeler sales for the nine months ended December 2018 grew by 65.9 percent to 115,000 units as against 69,000 units in the nine months ended December 2017.
