TVS Apache crosses 1-million sales mark
Chennai, May 3, 2013: TVS Motor Company’s Apache motorcycle has crossed the one- million mark in sales, seven years after its launch in 2006. The Apache, which is sold in over 20 countries globally, has seen continuous refinement and consumer-specific product innovation.

In its first avatar as a 150cc, 5-speed motorcycle, it set a new benchmark in the industry with innovative design, international looks, advanced engineering and technical excellence that offered an exhilarating combination of sporty performance and exceptional ride comfort. TVS then set about refining and improving it and launched a 160cc Apache RTR in 2007, creating a whole new category. A powerful 180cc Apache RTR then followed and more recently the 2012 Apache Series RTR rolled out with an all-new ‘beast’-themed styling. In 2011, for the first time in the history of the Indian two-wheeler industry, TVS introduced ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) in the Apache RTR 180, giving the bike formidable stopping power and superior braking control that complemented its high-performance capability.

“This is an important milestone for the Apache brand. Constant upgrades with new and innovative features, styling and refreshing graphics has helped us achieve this milestone. To mark this occasion, TVS Apache will come with a unique one million badge,” said K N Radhakrishnan, president and CEO, TVS Motor Company.

Since a high percentage of Apache owners are racing enthusiasts and the machine itself is a track-honed model, the company has introduced ARE (Apache Racing Experience) to offer Apache customers an insight on what their race-bred machines are capable of. At ARE, they get an opportunity to learn the finer points of racing under the watchful eyes of professional racers from Team TVS. Thus far, ARE has covered 155 cities across India.

At present, the Apache Series RTR portfolio includes three different models -- Apache RTR 180 ABS, Apache RTR 180 and Apache RTR 160.
