British motorcycle marque, Triumph Motorcycles has today expanded its Street Triple family, to now include the brute and more powerful Triumph Street Triple RS.

The naked sports motorcycle has been launched at a price tag of Rs 10,55,000 (ex-showroom, pan-India) and gets a host of mechanical, as well as aesthetic upgrades over its regular sibling, the Street Triple S.

In terms of its styling, the RS continues to feature the  twin bug-eyed headlamps upfront, along with integrated LED DRLs. It gets a redesigned split seat, a chiselled fuel tank, new radiator, cowls and a new flyscreen. The motorcycle gets two paint schemes, a matt silver ice and a phantom black metallic.

There are a pair of upside down (USD) 41mm dia forks from Showa doing duty at the front and an Ohlins STX40 monoshock underneath the seat. The motorcycle, however, gets the same gullwing rear swingarm as the Street Triple S, but it is lighter by 2kgs. There is the presence of an all-new fully digital colour TFT display in place of the speedometer console. The 5-inch display which offers three display styles and auto contrast can swivel to set the viewing angle according to a rider's height for better legibility and also gets a 5-way joystick control on the handlebar to toggle through its extensive menu.

Where the Street Triple S comes with two riding modes, the RS gets a total of five- road, rain, sport, track and an individual rider programmable mode. ABS and switchable traction control continue to be offered as standard safety equipment on board.

The Street Triple RS comes powered by the same 765cc three-cylinder motor derived from the Daytona and also powering the Street Triple S. The engine gets a new air box, a free flow exhaust and now generates 121bhp (+10bhp) of power and 77Nm (+4Nm) of peak torque at 10,800rpm. The motorcycle gets a ride-by-wire throttle and the engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and a quick shifter.

The RS comes shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP rubber and the braking kit includes 4-piston radial calipers from Brembo at the front and a single piston sliding caliper at the the back.

Triumph is also pushing its merchandise business and showcased its premium range of Teflon coated jackets for its customers.

The company reached a customer base of over 4,500 since its launch in 2013 and with a current dealer network of 14 outlets, it is set to include three more in Goa, Mangalore and Gurugram in the Q3 of FY2018.
