P Telang retires as MD of Tata Motors
June 21, 2012: Prakash Telang retired as the managing director of Tata Motors – India operations today, which incidentally also happens to be his birthday.
Two key officials promoted as executive directors
June 21, 2012: Prakash Telang retired as the managing director of Tata Motors – India operations today, which incidentally also happens to be his birthday. He has also stepped down from the Board of the company. Telang, 65, started his career with Tata Motors and has been with the automobile major for around 40 years.
Tata Motors is yet to name his successor. However, the company has elevated two of its key executives as executive directors. Ravindra Pisharody, president – commercial vehicles business unit, has been appointed executive director (commercial vehicles). An alumni of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, Pisharody has been with the company since 2007. He has over 30 years’ experience in sales, marketing, and business development.
Satish Borwankar, senior vice-president (manufacturing operations – commercial vehicles business unit), has been appointed executive director - Quality, Vendor Development & Strategic Sourcing for Tata Motors. An alumni of IIT Kanpur, Borwankar has been with Tata Motors since 1974, and has held various responsibilities in manufacturing and quality functions in the company.
