Tata Motors offers 6-year warranty on its entire M&HCV range

Tata Motors, which is driving an aggressive turnaround strategy both in its mainstay commercial vehicle (CV) and passenger vehicle (PV) businesses, is now upping the ante in the critical medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment.

The company, which is the CV market leader, is banking on greater customer support to help its customers run their trucks more efficiently. In line with this, Tata has announced the first-of-its-kind six-year warranty for its entire range of tractor-trailers, multi-axle trucks and tippers of 16 tonnes and higher GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight). Rivals like Ashok Leyland, Mahindra Trucks & Buses, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and Volvo Eicher also bank on better warranty and afterservice support.

For large fleet operators as well as single-truck owners, total cost of ownership and optimal running with maximum uptime are essential for a profitable business proposition. Ideally, they wants their truck(s) to run 24x7 without any breakdown and at a minimal maintenance cost. With this in mind, Tata Motors is has offered a standard driveline warranty of six years on the entire M&HCV range – the first CV OEM in India to do so. In addition to the driveline (engine, gearbox and rear axle), the warranty on the overall vehicle has been enhanced from 24 months to 36 months.

Speaking on the initiative, Girish Wagh, Head, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, said, “Tata Motors has been pioneering new technologies, products and value-added services. The six-year (6-Y) warranty is another industry first in our pursuit of offering better lifecycle benefit for our customers. We are pleased to offer the new warranty on our M&HCVs to our customers while reiterating our commitment behind the quality of our vehicles, including the ones that are subject to the hardest use. With this announcement, we also assure customers of greater benefits and hassle-free business on availing long term (6Y) Annual Maintenance Contracts. Together, the 6-Y warranty and 6-Y AMC will ensure lifetime peace of mind to our customer. We believe it’s a perfect way to delight our customers in 2018 and reward them for their trust and loyalty."

According to Tata Motors, the six-year standard driveline warranty is designed based on the study of operation in the lifecycle of over 20 lakh Tata trucks and tippers operating all over the country, in varied terrain, applications, and loading conditions. The six-year warranty is supported across Tata Motors’ extensive dealership and service network of over 1,800 touchpoints with service facility at every 50km. Warranty is transferable on resale for the balance period to the second owner, subject to vehicle transfer or hand change being intimated to Tata Motors and vehicle condition certified by Tata OK.
