Tata Motors is looking to make the most of the festive season. The carmaker today launched the Tata Tigor facelift at a starting price of Rs 520,000 for the petrol variant and Rs 738,000 for the diesel version.

Commenting at the launch of this premium compact sedan, Guenter Butschek, CEO and managing director, Tata Motors said, “The compact sedan segment has been an important space for customers seeking premiumness at best value, coupled with bold and attractive looks. Connecting the aspirations of these customers, we are excited to introduce the new Tigor. Loaded with class-above features, this car is the result of a perfect combination of beautiful craftsmanship, performance, comfort and technology. I am confident that the new Tigor will create a positive excitement to the brand fostering the ongoing PV growth journey.”

The Tigor facelift is updated with new features that include, square chrome elements inside the headlights, the clear-lens tail-lights and a shark-fin antenna. There’s also a new Egyptian Blue paint option on offer. Chrome highlights are also visible on the door handles, the front bumper, the grille and the fog lamp housings.

The big news is the addition of a new top-spec XZ+ trim, equipped with a 7.0-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto compatibility) that doubles as a display for the reverse camera.

Additional features on the Tigor XZ+ include faux-leather upholstery, driver's side seat-height adjust, power-folding wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators and a shark-fin antenna.

There are no mechanical changes to the facelift model and the Tigor continues to sport the same 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel motor as before. Lower trims that are powered by the petrol motor get the option of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox, while the top-spec variant can only be had with the manual gearbox. The diesel only gets a 5-speed manual transmission.

The refreshed Tigor will square off against the Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the Volkswagen Ameo.

In the April to September 2018 period, Tata Motors has sold a total of 98,702 units, recording year-on-year growth of 35.64 percent. The company currently has a passenger vehicle market share of 6.80 percent, up from 5.50 percent a year ago.
