Tata Motors appoints Tata Group chief designate N Chandrasekaran as chairman

Less than a week after he was appointed chairman of Tata Sons – and less than 24 hours before Tata Motors launches its Hexa crossover flagship in Mumbai – N Chandrasekaran has been appointed by Tata Motors as its chairman.

‘Chandra’, as he is popularly known in the corporate world, has been with the Tata Group since he joined the company in 1987, was the CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services since 2009. The tech flagship of the Tata Group commands a market capitalisation of around $17 billion.

While the launch of the new Hexa is the first of the passenger vehicles, the company recently launched the Xenon Yodha pickup to drive gains in the light commercial vehicle market.
