Suzuki rolls out its three-millionth two-wheeler in India
The production landmark comes around 11 years after the company began manufacturing operations in the country.
Suzuki Motorcycle India today announced a production milestone of its three-millionth vehicle – an Access scooter – at its plant in Gurgaon, Haryana. The production landmark comes around 11 years after the company began manufacturing operations in the country.
What has helped the company’s growth in recent years has been the demand for the Gixxer series of motorcycles and the new Access 125, along with the other models in the scooter and big bike segments. Suzuki has also extended its market presence through increased customer outreach and expansion of dealership network in India as well as by exports. Currently operating at a manufacturing capacity of 540,000 units per annum, Suzuki aims to further increase its production volume to raise its operational benchmarks.
Commenting on achieving the 3-millionth production rollout, Satoshi Uchida, managing director, SMIPL, said: “Our vehicles have gained immense popularity by fulfilling our commitment to quality across markets. We have witnessed a rapid growth since the past few years and we are confident about further reinforcing our position in the market.”
Suzuki Motorcycles India closed FY2016-17 with sales of 350,520 units, a year-on-year growth of 11.88 percent. This gives it a 1.99 percent market share in the country. The company also exported 72,116 units, up 10.95 percent YoY.
