Schwing Stetter rolls out new S-36 model
Schwing Stetter India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Schwing GmbH, the 850-million Euro German concrete machinery manufacturer of Germany, has launched a new truck- mounted concrete pump S-36 for the Indian market, its fifth in the product range. The model is ideal for the three-axle truck variety popular in India. The state-of-the-art vector control system helps customers plan their maintenance schedules and offers high returns on investment with an average output of 90 cubic metres of concrete per hour. The pump allows for placement of concrete at distances of more than 100 feet vertically and 90 feet horizontally. The S-36 is priced at Rs 1.3 crore (excluding the truck). Speaking at the launch, Anand Sundaresan, managing director of Schwing Stetter India, said: “Technology is increasingly playing a crucial role in the construction sector, largely enabling our clients to optimise their investments. The S-36 draws on customer feedback. We have already sold 12 units in India and plan to sell a total of 30 by December 2009.” V G Sakthikumar, chief operating officer, Schwing Stetter India, said: “We’re confident that the S-36, which has been designed keeping Indian preferences in mind, will be received very well by all our customers. We will continue to maintain our high quality standards, thereby consolidating our position as the market leaders, by strictly adhering to best engineering practices.” Speaking about the technological features offered, he added: “We are the one-stop-solution for ready mix concrete (RMC) companies by addressing their production, quality and communication requirements and by effectively integrating them with the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system of the company. Schwing also assists customers in erection of the plant by offering civil and mechanical execution services. Besides this, our products (vertical plant, concrete pumps and transit mixers) come with a fool-proof electronic computer control system. Schwing Stetter India has a flawless monitoring system with which the complete fleet is monitored by the customer from the production headquarters.” With the construction equipment industry recording 30 percent average growth, year on year, the company is optimistic about its increased growth in India. The Indian construction equipment sector is currently estimated at USD $2.25 billion, a fraction of the global market which is over $75 billion, with investment projections of more than $350 billion in infrastructure sector over the next few years. Future prospects of the equipment industry are directly linked to the growth of the Indian economy, which looks very promising currently. According to Sakthikumar, “Schwing Stetter India manufactures the entire range of concreting equipments like batching plants for concrete preparation, transit mixers for concrete transportation, concrete pump for concrete placement and recycling plants for recycling of concrete. We do not have global competitors who manufacture the entire range of products. However, we do have different competitors across segments like batching plants, truck mixers, pumps and we enjoy an average market share of 68-70 percent across product categories.” n
