Rajsriya Automotive Industries to open new plant in Himachal Pradesh

Chennai-based Rajsriya Automotive Industries, a tier-I supplier of sheet metal pressed parts is opening a new plant in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh in January in order to be at a location close to its largest customers, TVS Motor Company.

Rajsriya Automotive Industries  to open new plant in Himachal Pradesh

Chennai-based Rajsriya Automotive Industries, a tier-I supplier of sheet metal pressed parts is opening a new plant in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh in January in order to be at a location close to its largest customers, TVS Motor Company.

The Himachal Pradesh plant will supply products to TVS’s existing product in the initial phase. “We bought the land four  years ago and have just finished the construction and supply will start soon”, said P S Govindachari, managing director, Rajsriya Automotive Industries.  

To cater to Chennai-based customers, the company recently opened a new integrated powder coating plant within its existing facility at Sriperumpudur. Both the plants together involve an investment of Rs 30 crore.

Rajsriya Automotive Industries which recorded a turnover of Rs 400 crore in  2013-14 and hopes to touch the Rs 500 crore mark in next 18 months as a result of increasing business across segments. It has five plants in Hosur and two in Chennai. The new integrated plant in Chennai has been built over 38,000 square feet and is expected to touch peak capacity in next six months. Its customers include Daimler India Commercial Vehicle, Wabco India and Johnson Controls.

 “We have invested in Chennai plant because there is no organised power coating player in the Chennai area,” said Govindachari.   

The company supplies 47 parts number to DICV and another 35 part number have been finalised. This is going to add significant volumes for Rajsriya. Moreover, talks are on for another 100 odd part numbers. Over past six month,  the company has started supplying mudguards to Hero MotoCorp’s Gurgaon plant for the new Splendor Pro Classic model.

Besides DICV and Wabco India, Rajsriya Automotive Industries’ clientele includes Delphi Steering Systems, Brakes India, Sona Koyo Steering Systems, USA,  Rane NSK Steering Systems, Continental Automotive Brake Systems India, TI Cycles of India (BSA), Mando Brake Systems (India) and Takata India.
