Mercedes-Benz expands India network to 87 with new 3S facility in Mysore

Mercedes-Benz India today expanded its luxury car dealership network in the country to 87 across 42 cities with a brand-new facility in Mysore.

Akshaya Motors, its first 3S luxury dealership in Mysore, is strategically located in the heart of the city at Hebbal and will cater to Mysore and its neighboring vicinities. The luxury 3S dealership was inaugurated by Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India and M P Shyam Shetty, managing director, Akshaya Motors.

Speaking on the occasion, Roland Folger said, “At Mercedes-Benz India, we strive to create new avenues of proximity with our customers across the country. It is state-of-the-art facilities like Akshaya Motors, Mysore that helps us in pursuing our carefully curated ‘Go to Customer’ strategy and gives us a competitive edge. We are glad to have established partners like Akshaya Motors, who over the years have ensured a superlative customer experience in the market based on their deep understanding of the market and subsequent customer requirements."

"With this launch, we further reinstate our commitment to extend our brand promise of ‘Best or nothing’ to our patrons in the region. Mercedes-Benz India also has the densest network reach in the country and inauguration of our Mysore dealership is a step towards our expansion plan further in North Karnataka,” said Folger.

Akshaya Motors, which houses a 5-car display and hosts 5 bays dedicated for maintenance and repairs, will display all the variants of Mercedes-Benz cars. The workshop is spread across 34,000 square feet and is staffed by 45 professionally trained staff.

Akshaya Motors’ Dr. M.P. Shyam said, “We are delighted with this opportunity to deepen our relationship with not only India’s but the world’s leading luxury car maker, Mercedes-Benz. South India has always been a key market for us and in recent years, Mysore has emerged as an important city in Karnataka.”

Headed for another record year of sales

Mercedes-Benz India, which will be among the luxury car makers to benefit from customer demand arising from the GST-related price reductions, is driving towards a record year of sales. For the January-June 2017 period, it sold 7,171 vehicles (+8.7 percent). This is the brand’s highest ever half-yearly (H1) volume (January-June 2016: 6,597 units).

It also registered its best-ever June, Q2 and half-yearly sales, buoyed by reviving positive customer sentiments and an attractive product portfolio.

Continuing its growth momentum from Q1 2017, it has posted strong 18 percent growth in Q2 2017 (April-June 2017) with sales of 3,521 units.

With GST-driven price reductions adding wind to its sail, a strong product line-up and the most expansive dealer network among all luxury carmakers in India, will Mercedes-Benz surpass the 15,000 units sales milestone in 2017? Watch this space.
