Mahindra Navistar aims at cash breakeven in a year
Mahindra Navistar Automotives, which announced its pan-India launch in Mumbai hopes to have a cash break-even in a year from now. Addressing a press meet, Pawan Goenka, director, MNAL, said the company is ready to provide its products and services across the length and breadth of the country with 940 servicing points on important truck routes.

Indeed, since its soft launch a year ago, the company has launched its products in phases, widened the reach of its dealers and upped the number of service points.

Starting with the launch of two products, the MN25 and MN 31 and eight dealerships, MNAL now has 48 dealerships. Managing director, MNAL, Nalin Mehta, said the CV sector is now ready for a third player (after Tata and Ashok Leyland) and that MNAL was ready to cater to potential customers.

With 2400 HCvs on the road and estimated monthly sales of 1200 for both sales of LCVs and HCVs, MNAL is confident that its customer-centric initiatives which include a 24 hour helpline and mobile service network will help it make a mark in the CV sector.

Meanwhile, Mehta said that while the company has launched a wide range of products, it hopes to add to this with a 49 tonne tractor-trailer and a 25 tonne tipper aimed at the mining sector. The company’s current tipper is geared towards the construction sector. A 35 tonne car carrier is also planned.

On other fronts, Goenka said that Mahindra Navistar engines has begun to supply parts to Navistar over the last 2-3 months.

At present, just under 40 percent of MNAL trucks are financed by Mahindra Finance. The company is also working on engine variants for the MN 40 truck which is current available in 210 and 260 hp variants.
