Mahindra Alturas G4 to be sold from premium ‘World of SUVs’ showrooms

Mahindra & Mahindra’s new flagship SUV – the Alturas G4 – which is to be officially launched on November 24, is to be retailed in an exclusive space at its ‘World of SUVs’ dealerships.

Autocar India, in August 2018, had revealed that the company was setting up a premium zone within its existing dealerships to retail its more upmarket products. The S201 compact SUV (which may be called the XUV300) is also expected to be sold from this space.

The World of SUVs showrooms will be equipped with technology to ease and enhance the buying experience for customers, and will also be staffed with relationship managers to up the personal and premium quotient. Mahindra will also introduce a new loyalty programme called the Purple Club+, which will enable buyers to earn and redeem points based on their engagement with the brand.

Mahindra has also confirmed a number of features that will be offered on the Alturas G4. The new flagship SUV (essentially the second-gen SsangYong Rexton tweaked for the Indian market) will be equipped with dual-chamber HID projector headlamps, LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, black and tan Nappa leather upholstery, a colour Multi-Information Display (MID), powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electronic parking brake, a sunroof  and handsfree boot opening.

The brand has confirmed the following kit: an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with a memory function, a dual-zone climate control system, a 360-degree camera and ventilated seats. Safety kit includes nine airbags and active rollover protection.

Along with a competitive price point (expected to undercut the current segment leader, the Toyota Fortuner by about Rs 300,000), these features should help the Alturas G4 make its mark in the full-size seven-seat SUV segment with rivals such as the Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X.
