Jaguar Land Rover India (JLRIL) has launched the facelifted version of its flagship luxury sedan XJ starting at Rs 98.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The car is available in two trim levels – Premium Luxury and Portfolio.

In terms of styling, the facelifted XJ gets a more upright front grille design with mesh detail, full-LED headlamps, elliptical LED tail-lamps and revised bumpers.

Inside, the sedan gets a 31.24 cm HD digital screen with reworked graphics, JLR’s InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, perforated leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats with five massage functions, airplane style reclining rear seats with three massage functions and a panoramic sunroof.

The rear cabin is further enhanced with individual 25.90 cm HD screens with multimedia remote in centre armrest and front and rear seat controls. Folding business tables, LED reading lights, drop-in footrests and electric rear window blinds are also available. Furthermore, the XJ 2016 also comes with an 825W, 20-speaker Meridian audio system.

Mechanically, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine remains unchanged and continues to develop 237 bhp while the 3.0-litre diesel has been updated and now develops 296 bhp as against 271 bhp of the previous model. However, the option of the petrol engine is only available on the Portfolio trim.

The car also features adaptive air suspension and Jaguar’s All Surface Progress Control which acts as a low-speed cruise control to assist the driver in low-traction situations by handling the throttle input to provide optimum traction.

The facelifted XJ will be locally assembled at JLR's facility in Pune, and rivals the likes of the Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-series and the Audi A8.
