Hyundai India teases all-new Tucson
The new Tucson, which is expected to be launched in India on November 14, 2016, will be Hyundai’s second new model for India this year, the first being the recently launched Elantra sedan.
Hyundai Motor India has issued teaser design illustrations of the upcoming new Tucson. The styling for the third-generation Tucson is futuristic and is based on Hyundai’s evolved Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 (FS2.0) design philosophy.
The new Tucson, which is expected to be launched on November 14, 2016, will be Hyundai’s second new model for India this year, the first being the recently launched Elantra sedan.
Being a Hyundai, the Tucson is likely to come with a premium interior that’s packed with features. The equipment list will include the now de rigueur touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX-in, steering-mounted controls for audio and telephony, electrically-adjustable seats and up to six airbags on the fully-loaded variant.
With an expected price of Rs 17-22 lakh, the Tucson will go unrivalled until the arrival of the Volkswagen Tiguan later next year. That’s because the Honda CR-V, although similar in size, is currently offered in India with just two petrol engines – 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre.
The India-bound model is expected to arrive with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. It develops 136hp and 373Nm of torque, and is likely to be offered with the option of six-speed automatic and manual gearboxes. While the SUV gets all-wheel-drive variants abroad, these versions are unlikely to make it to India to keep costs low. A 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine could also be offered.
