Honda launches upgraded Dio at Rs 48,264

With over a million units of the Dio sold in India, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today launched an upgraded edition of the scooter with a new ‘Matt Axis Grey’ colour and a premium 3D emblem. The latest style upgrade comes at no additional cost as Dio continues to be priced at Rs 48,264 (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 2016 Honda Dio is powered by the same 110cc motor which develops 8bhp of power and 0.89kgm of torque. The Dio comes with drum brakes on both the wheels and benefits from a Combi-Braking System (CBS), found on other Honda scooters as well.

Launched in the year 2002, the Dio is the company’s first radically designed scooter and has been a trend setter in the scooter segment. It was the first to have a blend of aggressive looks and convenience and became an instant hit among the youth.

Despite it being over a decade old now, the Dio continues to be a big volume driver thanks to its ageless design. Evidently, it was the fourth most sold scooter in the country as well with 214,112 units delivered in 2015-16.

Apart from a robust domestic sales performance, the made-in-India Dio is also a big hit in international markets.  It is the company’s most exported model with shipments to Latin America (Colombia), South America (Mexico) and neighboring nations (Sri Lanka and Nepal).

According to Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “In line with Honda strategy to delight our customers by refreshing our product portfolio regularly, the new Dio is Honda’s sixth new model of 2016. The new Matt Axis grey colour with value addition of the premium 3D emblem without any additional cost makes it a compelling proposition to own one.”

Besides the new ‘Matte Axis Grey’ colour, the Dio will continue to be available in four existing colours – ‘Jazzy Blue Metallic’, ‘Candy Palm Green’,’ Sports Red’ and ‘Black’.
