Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has inaugurated the Children Traffic Park at Sector-23 in Chandigarh. At the training park, Honda aims to spread awareness about road safety issues, by replicating real-life riding conditions in a safe and secure environment. The institution will impart knowledge through theoretical lessons and will teach correct riding positions and rules.

Honda has also installed a virtual riding simulator at the park, to help people above the age of 13 experience over 100 possible on road dangers. This will help riders anticipate mishaps before they actually happen.

Honda has a CRF50, a smaller training motorcycle, at the park that will help children aged 9-12 years, understand the dynamics of riding a motorcycle. It will also help the young minds grasp the safe riding concept through exciting and practical riding circumstances. Apart from training youngsters, Honda also has a team of dedicated female safety instructors to help the women in Chandigarh learn how to ride, and in the process, be independent.

Commenting on this, Yadvinder S Guleria, vice-president, Sales & Marketing, HMSI, said: “Honda observed that a large number of female riders want to learn riding in a safe and organised setup so that they can ultimately become independent. For instance, over 2,000 females learnt safe two-wheeler riding within 22 days in Delhi. Children too are very enthusiastic learners and effective ambassadors of road safety in their family. Taking this learning further, Honda will provide lifetime safety education to all age-groups in Chandigarh with a special focus on women and children.”

Key initiatives by Honda at the renovated Chandigarh traffic park include:

- Complete learning at the traffic training park which replicates real-life riding conditions but in an organised and secure environment.

- A judicious mix of practical riding experience with theoretical knowledge of correct riding posture, traffic signs and rules.

- Higher degree of rider comfort and confidence as expert Honda Safety instructors (both women and men) will educate riders on correct riding techniques.

- Honda’s proprietary riding trainer – a virtual riding simulator – will help people above 13 years old to experience over 100 possible dangers on road before actual riding on-road. The virtual experience will significantly increase their ability to predict and react to traffic hazards.

This is Honda's seventh such park in India. The other parks are present in Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Yeola, and there are two parks in Delhi.
