Ford launches Mustang in India at Rs 65 lakh
Powered by a 401hp 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine, Ford Mustang will go on sale only in Delhi and Mumbai with other cities to be included next year.
Ford India today launched the iconic Mustang in the country at Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The muscle car will go on sale in Mumbai and Delhi initially, as the carmaker plans to include other cities next year.
The muscle car was first unveiled in January this year and later showcased at the Auto Expo in New Delhi.
The new Mustang will be equipped with a 401hp 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine with a torque rating of 515Nm, mated to six-speed auto gearbox.
Commenting on the launch of the Mustang, Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford India said, “In our commitment to building a drive for everyone, there’s never been a better time at Ford to introduce this iconic car and offer the youngest ever product line-up to customers in India. Mustang is more than just a car. It gives you the freedom to express and epitomizes the passion and fun-of-driving inherent in all Ford vehicles. The arrival of the Mustang will shine a bright light on the blue oval along with the rest of the Ford range and will help us demonstrate our potential.”
Since the Mustang first went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than 9 million vehicles. In its first year of global availability in 2015, the American carmaker sold over 110,000 coupes globally.
Ford will bring Mustang for customers in India as a CBU from Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States.
“The way Mustang looks, drives and sounds is key to the visceral experience that makes drivers just want to get in the driver’s seat and hit the road. The new Mustang is modern, technologically advanced and forward-looking, without forgetting the heritage that has inspired customers for generations,” added Mehrotra
Sporting a sleek design, the new Mustang features 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, a rear diffuser, dual-zone climate control, 9-speaker sound system, and voice-enabled SYNC 2 connectivity with an 8-inch colour touchscreen as standard equipment. The Mustang also offers selectable drive modes to juggle between normal, snow, wet, sport and track modes for quickly adjusting the steering wheel. Interior lighting can be customised by MyColor gauges.
The car will be available in six colour options – Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Triple Yellow Tricoat, Magnetic and the signature Race Red.
