Datsun Redigo bookings to commence from May 1
The pre-booking orders for the Redigo will begin from May 1, 2016 with deliveries to commence from June 2016.
Datsun India today announced the start of pre-launch bookings for its entry-level Redigo hatchback. The pre-booking orders for the Redigo will begin from May 1, 2016 with deliveries to commence from June 2016.
Datsun’s new car will be priced between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh; the ex-showroom prices and variants will be announced during the launch in June. Customers can pre-book their car with a fully refundable down payment of Rs 5,000 at Nissan dealerships across India. Currently, the company has 217 outlets covering 165 cities, with plans to establish 300 sales and service outlets by the end of March 2017.
To reach the target audience via multiple mediums, Datsun has also expanded the booking of the Redigo online through Snapdeal.com. It has also launched an Android-supported ‘Datsun India App’ to keep customers updated on the latest news about the car and providing them the option to book the car through the app.
Making the announcement, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India, said, "Created specifically for India and manufactured here, the Datsun Redigo is this country’s first urban-cross vehicle. From the wheels up, Datsun Redigo has been designed to shake-up the conventional compact hatchback segment. With the Redigo, we continue to expand and enhance our product offerings for people in India. We will be taking pre-booking orders starting May 1, 2016 for customers who are eager to be among the first to own this new offering from Datsun."
The Redigo, which had its global unveil in New Delhi on April 14, is the first Datsun to be based on the Common Module Family (CMF-A) platform from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, will be powered by the same 800cc powertrain as in the Kwid, mated to a five-speed gearbox and will develop the same amount of power. It will go up against established rivals from Maruti, Hyundai and even Renault. While the market leader Alto will be the main rival, the Redigo will also have to take on the Hyundai Eon and the Renault Kwid.
