Cummins India showcased its entire range of power technology solutions for customers and attendees at Auto Expo 2018.

“What differentiates Cummins from our competition is that we are able to bring them diversified, dependable technology solutions at the right time to power their success – always,” said Sandeep Sinha, vice-president – India Area Business Organization(ABO) and managing director, Cummins India. “Cummins is working relentlessly to help our customers be successful now and in the future by offering them powertrain choices that maximise fuel efficiency and reduce their costs.”

On display at the Auto Expo are the all-new BS-VI emission compliant engines, turbocharger technologies, exhaust after-treatment technologies and solutions for BS-VI compliant engines. Cummins’ BS VI engine architecture is a non-EGR architecture to reduce the system complexities and to provide better value to the customers. Compared with the existing BS IV engines, the BS VI engines promise better performance in terms of increased power and torque density, improved reliability, extended service intervals and advanced telematics offerings; Cummins says it aims to be a one-stop shop solution provider by offering the complete package of the engine as well as after treatment system.

The single module after-treatment solution, exclusively developed for the BS VI-compliant engines, guarantees that the product meets emissions warranty per regulations requirements.  Around 60 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than competition modular after-treatment systems, it comes with Cummins advanced AUS32 dosing and mixing technologies for driving higher efficiencies in NOx conversion which is clubbed with smart controls strategy to drive improved fluid efficiency of the vehicle in a variety of applications.

Cummins Care mobile app
Cummins also aims to target customer delight by launching the ‘Cummins Care’ mobile app – a service innovation for its customers to lodge service requests and obtain real-time updates of event progress. “Through our connectivity and service solutions, we are committed to propelling the business of our customers and maximizing their efficiency,” Sandeep Sinha added. “We can support their unique needs and ensure we can anticipate, assess and act no matter when, where, or how they need us with our people and our products like Guidanz, Connected Diagnostics, Connected Software Updates and Fleetguard FIT,” said Sandeep Sinha.

Delivering on its brand promise of innovation and dependability, Cummins made amply clear its intent to evolve into a fully integrated powertrain supplier by showcasing the Eaton Cummins AMT Solutions. Cummins in North America has recently entered into a joint venture with Eaton, a company that designs, develops and sells current and future automated transmissions for heavy- and medium-duty applications globally to offer fully integrated powertrain solutions that deliver improved performance, reliability and fuel efficiency.

At Auto Expo 2018, Cummins offered a sneak peek into its electric powertrain technology for commercial vehicle operations with an aim to complement Cummins’ clean-diesel, near-zero natural gas and diesel-hybrid products to offer the broadest, most energy-diverse power portfolio in the auto industry.

“Over the past 100 years, our ability to innovate and adapt has fueled our success and we are confident we are on the right path to innovate and adapt again at this critical juncture. We are ready to provide a range of power technologies to our customers from diesel and natural gas to fully electric and range extender powertrains. And we will always provide our customers with the best solution for their application.” said Julie Furber, executive director, Electrification Business Development.

“The future looks equally promising for us. While diesel and natural gas will continue to be important in many markets for years to come and we will continue to drive innovations for our customers, we are rapidly evolving from an engine provider to a fully integrated powertrain solution provider,” concluded Sinha.
