Wenzhou Donon Carbon Ware's Benjame Huang: "There are several enquiries flowing in from India."

China-based automotive carbon ware major Wenzhou Donon has bagged notable orders from two top Tier 1 component makers in India. Looking forward, the company is working to win more orders from Indian Tier 1 suppliers.

Talking to Autocar Professional at the ongoing ACMA Automechanika New Delhi aftermarket trade fair at Pragati Maidan, Benjame Huang, business director of Wenzhou Donon Carbon Ware Co Ltd, said the company has been supplying its carbon brushes to Lucas-TVS and Autolek. Hunag said both these Tier I component makers are using its carbon brushes in the alternator and starters the company produces for Indian OEMs. He, however, did not disclose the volume of supplies to Lucas-TVS and Autolek.

“There are several enquiries are flowing in from India. Hence we have made our presence at this year’s ACMA Automechanika New Delhi to connect with Indian buyers. We are in talks with a few more Tier 1s in India but it is too premature to identify them,” Huang added. He also said the company sees India as one of its potential markets due to growing vehicle population in the country.

He said the company’s Chinese factory is one of the largest carbon ware manufacturing units covering 50,000 square meters with 300 employees. Its product range covers carbon brush and brush-holders for motors of four-wheelers, motorcycles, dust-cleaners, machines, household electrical appliances, power tools and related items. Its manufacturing facility in China has an annual production capacity of 0.15 billion pieces of carbon brushes and 15 million sets of brush holders. Its major OEM customers include General Motors in the United States, Honda and Isuzu in Japan and Middle East, and Volkswagen, Dongfeng, Quanzhou Yida in China.
