Brakewel Auto Components to focus on exports

ACMA Automechanika New Delhi exhibitor Brakewel Auto Components India is now focusing on export activities. The company opened a sales office in Dubai six months ago and currently ships its products to the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Initially, the focus is on the automotive aftermarket but the company is also in active discussions with Tier 1 suppliers in these countries for supply of high-performance clutch facings and brake linings for heavy commercial vehicles, trucks and buses. It hopes that within two years it will finalise supplies to two Tier 1 suppliers. Currently, its exports from India constitute 30 percent of its total business and go out to the aftermarket in Central America, Far East and Europe.

Speaking to Autocar Professional today, Sandeep Arora, director, said the target is to produce clutch facings which match the pricing and technology of the high-performance clutch facings made in China and imported into India.

The company, which has one plant each in Noida and Greater Noida, manufactures 6 million units annually of both clutch facings and brake linings.  It has a technology collaboration with ASK Technico Corporation of Japan for clutch facings. Its current topline is Rs 38 crore and hopes to grow 15 percent in 2014-15.
