Audi India opens showroom in Bhubaneswar, to have 34 dealers across India by end-2013
Bhubaneswar, May 24, 2013: Audi has inaugurated its first showroom in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Audi Bhubaneswar, which is spread across 11,500 square feet, is the largest luxury car showroom in Orissa. With a display area that can accommodate 14 Audi cars, the showroom will display Audi India’s entire model range. Furthermore, it will house an Audi Shop and the Audi Exclusive elements, where customers can order customised products and purchase Audi-branded merchandise.

“We have achieved a stellar sales performance in FY 2012-13 and in the first quarter of 2013 and became the No.1 luxury car brand in India. Our dealer expansion strategy has helped us to tap the underlying growth potential of the luxury automotive market of India and reach the maximum number of potential buyers across the country. Customers in Tier 2 cities are exhibiting an increased appetite for luxury. Orissa is a key market for us and I am confident that Audi Bhubaneswar will play an integral role in sustaining the momentum that Audi India has created in reaching the pole position,” said Michal Perschke, Head, Audi India.

“Audi Bhubaneswar is at par with the showrooms we have in Munich and London as regards standards, quality and site. By end-2013, we will have at least 34 dealers pan-India, with plans for new dealerships in markets like Vadodara and Noida among others. It is important for us to be present wherever our customer is,” added Perschke.
Audi Bhubaneswar will also manage the Audi service facility, spread across 14,500 square feet, located behind the showroom. This facility, which has trained technicians, will have a capacity to service 15 cars per day in a single shift on a total of 9 bays along with body shop and paint shop. The technicians are trained to ensure world-class services to the customers.

Audi India, which wrested the luxury car crown from BMW India in 2012-13, sold 770 units in April 2013, a year-on-year growth of 37 percent (562 units: April 2012). The company registered a 19.6 percent growth YTD with sales of 3,386 units from January to April 2013 (2,831 units: Jan-April 2012). The carmaker, which plans to expand its India network to 34 dealerships by the end of 2013 from its existing 26 centres, opened new showrooms in Mumbai South and Lucknow earlier this year. Last year, it set up showrooms in Raipur, Kanpur, Goa, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal.
