Aprilia launches SR150 Race scooter at Rs 70,288

Following up on its first scooter for India, the aggressively priced SR150, Aprilia today launched its second product – the SR150 Race – less than six months of the flagship SR150’s introduction.

Also to be manufactured at Piaggio’s Baramati plant, the SR150 Race looks to ride on MotoGP’s globally popular RS-GP. The SR150 Race is priced at Rs 70,288 (ex-showroom Mumbai). Some of its key features include RS-GP inspired body colour and graphics, red alloy wheels and suspension springs tuned for faster acceleration.

Commenting on the latest product, Stefano Pelle, managing director and CEO – Piaggio Vehicles, said, “The great response we got when we introduced the SR150 in India last year gave us the confidence that the market is now ripe for change. The youth of India is keen to explore the new and this augurs well for a brand like ours which thrives on building different categories in every market that we operate in. We hope that the SR150 Race brings riders even closer to the racy appeal they long for in their daily rides and changes, yet again, the way India purchases its two-wheelers.”

Referring to the competitive pricing of the SR150 Race, Pelle said, “Our philosophy as a company is to do things differently. We have priced the SR150 Race at a point which makes it appeal to the youth who are driven by quality and differentiation in all their adventures.”

The Aprilia SR Race bears SR 150-like attributes -- an aggressive and sporty style, distinct handlebar, the light unit included in the shield and the pronounced ‘beak’ on the front wheel which characterises the front end. There are also large black 14-inch alloy wheels with five spokes that show off sporty design drawn from Aprilia racing bikes.
