Tata Motors has added another variant to its Nexon compact SUV line-up in our market. The new trim is called the Nexon XZ and is priced at Rs 799,000 for the petrol variant, while the diesel costs Rs 899,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Autocar India had reported a few days ago that a new variant for the Nexon is in the works. Mechanically, the model remains unchanged and uses the same 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel and 110hp, 1.2-litre petrol powertrains with multi-drive modes that powers the rest of the Nexon range. The changes are only limited to features and cosmetics.

Compared to the top-end XZ+ variant, the XZ trim misses out on a dual-tone roof, daytime running lamps (DRLs), alloy wheels, front and rear centre armrests, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, front and rear fog lamps, a rear defogger, the smart-key and the push-start button.

However, it does get features like projector headlamps, the Harman-sourced 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration and Android auto connectivity; voice commands, voice alert feature (seatbelt, handbrake release, door open, low fuel and service reminder) and height adjustment for the driver’s seat and the seatbelt.

The Nexon range starts at Rs 663,000 for the base petrol variant, going up to Rs 10.99 lakh for the top-spec diesel. Tata Motors is also in the process of launching an AMT gearbox-equipped Nexon in the coming months.
