The Jaguar C-X75, a cancelled million-pound 850bhp hybrid supercar project, is set to star in the upcoming James Bond film Spectre.
Individuals involved with the project have reported on the car's ongoing engineering works, which are designed to make it suitable for filming use.
Autocar UK understands that for production purposes the C-X75 will be fitted with Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8, instead of using its existing hybrid powertrain.
It is also rumoured that the C-X75 will be driven by the film's villain. Such a role in the 24th Bond film ties in neatly with Jaguar’s "Good to be Bad" campaign, which heralded the launch of the new F-type coupe and showcased British actors playing villains.
Jaguar officials would not confirm which cars are involved in the film at this stage but did not directly counter the reports of the C-X75's involvement, instead simply indicating that any official announcements will be made in 2015.
It would not be the first time that Bond's enemies have driven Jaguars. In the 2006 version of Casino Royale, for example, both the XJ8 and XJR make appearances.
A Jaguar XKR also starred prominently in 2002's Die Another Day, battling Bond's Aston Martin Vanquish.
The hero car of the film, driven by James Bond, will be the recently revealed Aston Martin DB10. Aston Martin itself has been using the hashtag "Good to be Bond" on Twitter, imitating the official Jaguar line and further indicating the brand's involvement with the upcoming film.
